My FURRY FRIEND JOURNAL: Feel It, Touch It

Furry Friend Journals with ring-binder to allow easy refill of pages. The writing pad consists of standard A5-size pages which means that you can get refills easily from major stationery shops.

If you love pets, you'll like the real furry feel of our FURRY FRIEND journals which we created by tapping into the skills of two groups of people. We enlisted the help of two young girls, Tunyong and Malasaw, to sew the furry friend designs using different furry fabrics before getting these made into ring-bound journals by the team that make our Fab Journals. It was their pets that inspired Tunyong and Malasaw to design animals on t-shirts using furry fabrics for the body and buttons for the eyes. We simply took the idea and applied it onto fabric journal covers.

Below is our series of furry friend journals in colourful cotton fabrics (Price: $27). Further down, you'll see the same furry friends on denim materials (Price: $28). The pages inside are A5-size without lines:

Here are the designs using different types of denim materials:

Wireart-Ceramic Mug Pen Holder Set in Support of VWO's Crafts Effort

Here's another new creation that brings together the creative talents of the people we work with to support the efforts of the intellectually disabled in Singapore ~ our Wireart-Ceramic Mug Penholder Set. Bow and Keng are two brothers who are self-taught wire artists who started experimenting with aluminium wires only early this year. Their innate talents really shine in their art pieces. Like our crocheter Third, they are glad to be part of our project to support the crafts effort of the intellectually disabled in Singapore.

Shown below is one result of our concept that combines the talents of our wire artists with the ceramic mugs made by members of TOUCH SpecialCrafts. We have created a series of Wireart-Ceramic Mug Pen Holder sets on the theme of love, each featuring a different wireart piece and ceramic mug.

There are more interesting things we have created with Bow and Keng. Below is another wireart piece on the theme of love, this one without the ceramic mug. We'll be featuring more of their work soon.

Crochet Pal-Ceramic Mug Penholder Set in Support of VWO's Crafts Effort

We specially created a series of Crochet Pal-Ceramic Mug Penholder sets to support the ceramic-making training provided by TOUCH SpecialCraft to its members with special needs. We tapped into the talents of our crocheter Third to make the bear and animal pals that go with the ceramic mugs made by the intellectually disabled as part of their crafts training. Through this unique creation, we hope to generate more business and income for them. Click here to find out more about TOUCH Community Services.

As can be seen in the picture above, every pen-holder set consists of a one-of-a-kind hand-moulded ceramic mug with a different crochet animal pal. Besides the bear, cat and monkey you see here, we also have frog, lion, rabbit and pig. We'll try to post more pictures on our blog asap.

Traditional Tablemat for the Kitchen, Living Room or Office Pantry

To match the retro cup coasters, here's a selection of traditional tablemats meticulously made from small pieces of fabrics that have to be individually folded and sewn one by one. Keeping the pattern round and symmetrical is a tough task.

The size is 11ins diameter. Price: $10 each. Only 1 piece per design is available as it's not possible to replicate the exact fabric combination. To order our tablemats, email georgewong@teddythotz.com for the pictures and other details.

Going Retro with Made-By-Elderly Cup Coasters

We've given a new twist to the traditional hexagon-shape patchwork blanket by turning it into cup coasters.

The idea came to us when we noticed how tedious it was for the elderly to make the hexagon patchwork blanket which could take months to complete and yet could not be sold at the price that would justify the tedious labour put in.

We realised it would be a lot easier to make cup coasters instead, which could be sold easily, at an affordable price, and therefore be a quick source of income for the elderly.

And we were right! Our hexagon patchwork cup coasters have become a quirky retro traditional and useful things to have in the home or office. They are also washable.

Here's our latest batch of Retro Cup Coasters made by our elderly. To order, please email georgewong@teddythotz.com for an updated catalogue or copy the image below and indicate which coasters. Price is $6 for a set of any 4 coasters:

These new Fab Journals represent many days and miles of searching for the nicest fabrics we could find within our budget. Here are all the designs grouped by oriental/floral prints, Japanese prints, country prints, contemporary prints, as well as denim and other types of fabrics.
